CWA Members Overwhelmingly Ratify Pacific, Nevada Bell Contract.SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 25, 1995--Members of the Communications Workers of America Communications Workers of America (CWA) is the largest communications and media labor union in the United States (the union also has locals in Canada), representing over 700,000 workers in both the private and public sectors. The three-year contract covers approximately 34,000 of the companies employees in California and Nevada. According to Mike Rodriguez, Pacific Bell human resources vice president and chief bargainer for the companies, the Telecommunications International Union (TIU) and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) is a labor union which represents workers in the electrical industry in the United States and Canada, particularly electricians, or Inside Wiremen, in the construction industry and linemen and other employees of public Local 1011, Order of Repeatermen and Toll Testboardmen (ORTT ORTT Országos Rádió És Televízió Testület (Hungarian: National Radio and Television Authority; Budapest, Hungary) ORTT Operational Readiness Training Test ORTT Outward Remittance Telegraphic Transfer (HSBC Bank; Hong Kong) ), also have voted to accept three-year labor contracts. Those unions represent approximately 500 employees in Pacific Bell. Pacific and Nevada Bell are subsidiaries of Pacific Telesis Group, a diversified telecommunications corporation headquartered in San Francisco.
