CVT Announces U.S. Patent Approval For ChemBioPrint Process.

CV Technologies (CDNX:CVQ.)(CVT) announced today that the U.S. Patent Office has issued a Notice of Allowance for its proprietary ChemBioPrint(TM) technology patent application.

The U.S. Patent Office approved CVT's umbrella process application for "Chemical and Pharmacological Standardization of Herbal Extracts."

According to Jim Bruce, CVT's president & CEO, "U.S. patent approval for our core technology is the single most important technology milestone in the company's history. ChemBioPrint(TM) will assure consumers that the natural health products they purchase are scientifically proven safe and effective with exceptional consistency." The ChemBioPrint(TM) process for standardizing natural therapeutic mixtures was developed over the past ten years on the campus of the University of Alberta by 15 full time scientists at a cost of over $15 million. The proprietary process involves the isolation of active components of natural products precisely characterized through chemical profiling and biological assays. The ChemBioPrint(TM) process has been used, under contract, by the DuPont Consumer Health Division to evaluate health foods and has been licensed to a CVT joint venture in Asia comprised of members including the University of Hong Kong.

Utilizing the ChemBioPrint(TM) platform, CVT has commercialized 6 health supplement products under its HerbTech(TM) brand that are marketed through Safeway Stores, the real Canadian Superstores, Whole Foods Markets and many other health food stores throughout North America. The company has over 20 additional health supplement products in its product pipeline to be introduced over the next three to four years. The company's pharmaceutical drug candidate to alleviate colds and flu, developed under the ChemBioPrint(TM) platform, is currently being tested under U.S. FDA Investigational New Drug (IND) status in a phase II clinical trial at the Eastern Virginia Medical School.
