Total sales for the five-week period ended April 1, 2000 increased 12.2% to $1.837 billion, compared to $1.638 billion in the prior year period. Total pharmacy sales represented 63% of total company sales in March. Year-to-date, same store sales for the thirteen-week period ended April 1, 2000 increased 8.8% over the prior year period, while pharmacy same store sales increased 15.2%. Total sales for the thirteen-week period increased 11.8% to $4.739 billion, compared to $4.240 billion in 1999.
