CUSTOMS VIDEO PRODUCTION WINS AWARD

 CUSTOMS VIDEO PRODUCTION WINS AWARD
 WASHINGTON, May 8 /PRNewswire/ -- "Customs K-9" received the

second place "Silver Screen Award" in the 1992 U.S. Industrial Film & Video Festival. The festival is an annual event with over 300 judges screening 1,500 entries submitted from 30 countries.
"Customs K-9" presents a complete overview of the detector dog program. From procurement of the dogs, through training in narcotic interdiction, to retirement, the program portrays the life of the U.S. Customs detector dogs.
The K-9 program, conceived and operated by the Office of Inspection and Control, has been very successful in facilitating the processing of arriving international passengers and cargo, yet maintaining a high degree of narcotic interdiction. These alert and eager dogs have been responsible for some of the largest drug seizures ever made. Throughout their careers the detector dogs are given the best in daily care and professional medical treatments. When the dogs are ready to retire, they are quickly adopted, often by the officers who worked with them.
Mark J. Vyrros, video producers for the U.S. Customs Service Office of Public Affairs, produced and directed "Customs K-9" as an informational program to help Customs Inspectors, and Canine Enforcement Officers deliver the message "Say No To Drugs" to school children and the general public.
