CURTAIN'S ALMOST UP ON HIGH STREET THEATER MANAGER CHOICE.

Byline: Angie Valencia-Martinez Staff Writer

MOORPARK - City officials are close to naming a manager to run the show at the Theater on High Street - seven months after the city purchased the venue, which has struggled for years to stay afloat.

City Council members Clint Harper and Roseann Mikos were appointed to a committee to preserve the landmark, which was put up for sale last year. After months of negotiations and speculation, the city's Redevelopment Agency agreed to purchase it for $1.25 million.

The committee recently completed interviews for the manager position after screening about a dozen candidates. They will recommend a full-time operator to the full council in the next 30 days, said Moorpark Assistant City Manager Hugh Riley.

Now, Moorpark is adjusting to the idea of owning a theater. Officials are currently putting together a budget plan, which includes the salary for an operator.
