CURRY ELECTED CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER OF DESTEC ENERGY, INC.

 HOUSTON, Feb. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Destec Energy, Inc. (NYSE: ENG) a leading independent power producer based in Houston, announced today that Keys A. Curry Jr., executive vice president, has been elected by the board of directors to assume the additional responsibility of chief operating officer, effective immediately.
 Curry succeeds Charles F. Goff as COO. Goff, president of Destec, assumed the additional responsibility of chief executive officer on Sept. 1, 1992.
 "I am pleased to announce that Keys has been given this additional responsibility," Goff said. "He has made a major contribution to the establishment and progress of Destec since its formation in 1989. His experience in the independent power industry has been instrumental to the company's success, and he has provided outstanding leadership for Destec's rapid growth."
 Curry joined PSE Inc., a pioneer in the independent power industry, in 1974 and served as vice president, treasurer and senior vice president - corporate develd? operations, as well as president and chief operating officer of PSE in 1987. Curry was elected executive vice president of Destec in February 1990, following the Destec-PSE merger in December 1989. He was elected to the Destec Board in November 1990. He has numerous years of experience in power generation for both industries and utilities.
 Destec is a major independent power company that develops, builds, owns and operates gas-fired power generation facilities that produce and sell electrical and thermal energy, as well as facilities that manufacture synthetic fuel gas for use in energy production. Destec has interest in 13 operating projects with a total rated equivalent capacity of more than 1,390 megawatts of electricity and over 2 million pounds per hour of steam. Destec presently has two facilities, representing 724 megawatts of capacity, under construction. In addition, Destec currently markets more than 425 megawatts of electricity cogenerated by The Dow Chemical Company.
