LLC - Logical Link Control announced Tuesday that it's getting into monkey business. The toy-and-gift specialist will partner with Universal Studios' consumer products group to merchandise Curious George Curious George inquisitive, mischievous monkey. The beloved simian will find his way onto plush toys, mugs, figurines, picture frames and other tchotchkes, manufactured through Applause's Dakin division. The toys should be in stores by April. Woodpeckers typically have sharp, chisellike bills for pecking holes in tree trunks, and long, barbed, extensible tongues with which they impale . ``So many other licensed characters have been overexploited at deep discounters and as fast-food promotions, the consumer has gotten tired of them,'' Solomon said. ``George is George I, king of Greece George I, 1845–1913, king of the Hellenes (1863–1913), second son of Christian IX of Denmark. After the deposition (1862) of Otto I, he was elected to succeed on the throne of Greece. still fresh, which made him especially interesting to me.'' Universal Studios representatives were unavailable for comment, but offered a written statement on the deal. ``Applause understands the values of Curious George and the role he plays in the lives of children,'' said Tim Rothwell, senior vice president of merchandising and marketing. ``We selected Applause because of their outstanding quality and attention to detail.''
