provider to credit unions and their members worldwide, has selected Oblix NetPoint Web access management (WAM WAM - Intermediate language for compiled Prolog, used by the Warren Abstract Machine. "An Abstract Prolog Instruction Set", D.H.D. Warren, TR 309, SRI 1983. ) solution as a key piece of its overall e-business strategy. Oblix NetPoint will deliver Web single sign-on An identification system that lets users log into multiple Web sites on the Internet with one username and password. Single sign-on systems are also used within an enterprise, enabling users to access all authorized resources in the local network using the same username and password.  and identity management capabilities to CUNA Mutual's customer base of thousands of credit unions and their members as well as to its own 5,000 employees.

"We needed to provide credit union employees as well as the members they serve, secure access to numerous Web-based applications. We quickly realized keeping user identity information updated was a complex and potentially costly task," stated Steve Devoti, Directory Services manager, CUNA Mutual Group. "Oblix NetPoint was the only solution that provided the advanced identity management functionality to enable us to increase security and drive down the overall cost associated with administering and managing a large user base as well as an application portfolio with complex access control rules."

Oblix NetPoint will be deployed by CUNA Mutual to enable its employees, credit union employees and members to access services and applications that are hosted by the company throughout its extended enterprise. With Oblix NetPoint, CUNA Mutual will automate once manual tasks such as approving changes to user information and password management, thereby significantly reducing the costs associated with their overall e-business infrastructure. The potential of interacting with millions of credit union members through its e-business network heightened the need for a tool capable of dynamically managing this vast user base. Complicating factors are the often unique contractual relationships that are associated with each credit union. CUNA Mutual determined that Oblix NetPoint was the only WAM solution that could address this need through configuration rather than custom programming.

Prior to selecting Oblix NetPoint, CUNA Mutual had evaluated competing WAM product offerings but none had met both its access control and extensive identity management requirements.

"Recognizing that e-business is ultimately built on an identity infrastructure is critical to understanding the power of the Internet," stated Gordon Eubanks Gordon Eubanks (b.
