The small mass of the sample examined by Monopros Limited necessitated recovery of microdiamonds much smaller in size than usual. Of the total diamond count, 2708 diamonds were larger than 74 microns (0.074mm). This result represents an unusually high diamond count for a primary bedrock source. Recently, a 2200 pound bulk sample was collected by Monopros Limited for analysis for macrodiamonds from the occurrence as a part of their preliminary evaluation. An independent consultant's report confirms that the Parker Lake area is prospective for diamond exploration. Potential diamond bearing rocks in the area may include kimberlites and other non-kimberlitic rock types such as lamproites, diatremes and minettes. The Parker Lake Joint Venture has acquired an extensive land position totalling approximately 1,000,000 acres and is planning the 1995 exploration program.
