EMMERDALE bosses are bringing back Charity Tate Charity Tate (née Dingle) was a fictional character in the ITV soap Emmerdale. Charity was played by actress Emma Atkins.

Charity arrived in Emmerdale in 2000 on the run from the law.
 as they revamp the soap.

Charity, played by actress Emma Atkins Emma Atkins (born 31 March 1975 in Cumbria) is a popular English actress best known for playing the role of Charity Tate on the ITV1 Soap Opera Emmerdale from 2000 to 2005 which was her first appearance on British Television. , returns next month after four years away and will be reunited with her screen daughter Debbie.

Emma, 33, said: "I couldn't resist exploring a new era of Charity, Cain and Debbie and will relish seeing what she's been up to." Emma's last appearance in the soap was in March 2005. Her character is expected to clash with bad boy Cain Dingle, played by Jeff Hordley, 34, in the summer. The pair once had a steamy affair.

Producer Gavin Blyth said: "It's going to be exciting with Charity and Cain back at the heart of the action."
