CTS Corporation Joins the Bluetooth Consortium of Industry-Leading Companies.ELKHART, Ind.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 5, 1999--CTS Corporation has joined the Bluetooth consortium of industry-leading companies that are working together to deliver seamless connectivity between mobile devices. Bluetooth is an open specification for short-range radio connections between devices ranging from laptop PCs, mobile phones, PDAs, digital cameras, and other electronic products. The goal of the Bluetooth special interest group The Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG) is the body that oversees the development of Bluetooth standards and the licensing of the Bluetooth technologies and trademarks to manufacturers. "SIG" is to provide a world where all electronic devices talk spontaneously -- where connectivity between computers, mobile phones and portable devices is as simple as flipping a switch. Ericsson, Intel, IBM, Nokia and Toshiba founded the Bluetooth SIG in an effort to provide a global specification for wireless connectivity. First announced in May of 1998, Bluetooth has gained momentum with overwhelming support from telecommunication, consumer and PC industry leaders interested in developing products based on the Bluetooth specification. Since its founding, the Bluetooth SIG has grown significantly, recently adding 3COM, Compaq, Dell, Hewlett-Packard, Lucent, Motorola, NTT DoCoMo, Philips, Samsung, Siemens and Texas Instruments and others as members.
