:CTS), a global leader in wireless components design and manufacture, and a premier supplier of temperature compensated crystal oscillators An oscillator that uses a quartz crystal to generate a frequency. Such devices generally output a fixed frequency, but some can be controlled by a tuning voltage over a small range. Contrast with VCO.  (TCXOs) to the wireless industry, today announced the introduction of a new 5 x 7mm, TCXO TCXO Temperature Compensated Crystal Oscillator

for the fast growing China market.

The 5 x 7mm package is the predominant package size used in the cellular phone industry. CTS Wireless Components, Inc. developed, and will manufacture, the new TCXO in response to the significant demand for "locally produced wireless components in China" -- where CTS is an established supplier of oscillator oscillator

products for China's fast-growth wireless products industry.

CTS has selected its Tianjin, China, facility for the manufacture of the new TCXO. The CTS Tianjin facility is less than one hundred miles from Beijing. The city's accessible location and high-caliber workforce were major factors in CTS' manufacturing site selection. By leveraging its proven production capability in Tianjin, CTS can commence production sooner and deliver aggressively priced, high-quality components to China's wireless product manufacturers faster.

"As demand for local content in China increases, we would expect our Tianjin facility to play a pivotal role in filling the need for competitively priced wireless components, especially TCXOs," stated James Hart James Hart, Jim Hart, or Jimmy Hart may refer to:

, vice president and general manager, CTS Wireless Components. "When cellular phone manufacturers can source quality components locally, everyone benefits. It reduces manufacturing costs. It also facilitates greater local content, which means greater cellular phone sales opportunities in China for the cellular manufacturer."

The industry standard 5 x 7mm TCXO package is one which CTS has considerable experience, both in IC technology and its patented "H-package" construction. This unique technology allows for double-stacked component construction, enabling more components to fit into a smaller footprint. Robustly designed, the CTS platform gives handset manufacturers superior frequency versus temperature performance on the order of plus/minus 1PPM, which increases cellular phone reliability. An added benefit is the oscillator's low current drain, which extends battery life.

Product samples are now available. Production shipments are scheduled to begin first quarter 2001.
