CTIA-The Wireless Association(R) Hires Jot Carpenter as Vice-President, Government Affairs.


WASHINGTON -- CTIA-The Wireless Association(R) President and CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board.  Steve Largent announced that telecommunications veteran Jot Carpenter is joining the association as Vice-President, Government Affairs. Carpenter has worked in the Washington, D.C., office of AT&T for the past decade, and was previously with the Telecommunications Industry Association See TIA.

Carpenter had been with AT&T since 1996, serving most of that time as Vice-President, Government Affairs. Prior to that, he worked in the Government Affairs department of the Telecommunications Industry Association for three years, after serving as a legislative assistant to Congressman Mike Oxley Michael Garver "Mike" Oxley (born February 11, 1944) is an American politician of the Republican party who served as a U.S. representative from the 4th congressional district of Ohio. , R-Ohio, from 1991 to 1993.

Carpenter was born in Billings, Montana, but spent the majority of his childhood in Columbus, Ohio. He graduated from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, in 1987 with a bachelor's degree in history and political science. Carpenter was also awarded master's degrees in history from Bowling Green State University Bowling Green State University, at Bowling Green, Ohio; coeducational; chartered 1910 as a normal school, opened 1914. It became a college in 1929, a university in 1935.  in 1990, and in telecommunications from George Washington University George Washington University, at Washington, D.C.; coeducational; chartered 1821 as Columbian College (one of the first nonsectarian colleges), opened 1822, became a university in 1873, renamed 1904.  in 2000. He assumes his new responsibilities September 18.

CTIA is the international association for the wireless telecommunications industry, representing carriers, manufacturers and wireless Internet providers.
