CTIA '99: HP Tool Reduces Cost of Base-Station Maintenance With Remote-test Capability; Software Provides Network Trend Analysis, Facilitates Realistic Training.

NEW ORLEANS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 8, 1999--Hewlett-Packard Company today introduces an accessory software application for the HP 8935 Series E6380A CDMA base-station test set designed to streamline network optimization, reduce cost of base-station maintenance and improve quality of service. The announcement was made here at the Cellular Telecommunications Industry Association's (CTIA) annual conference and convention.

The HP H7295SA remote-test application software is a Windows(R)-based tool that provides local control with a PC user interface and remote access with control over an HP instrument located at a remote base station. The application will reduce base-station maintenance test time by allowing a single service technician to run tests and monitor the RF performance of a remote base station while simultaneously performing maintenance tasks away from the site.

The HP H7295SA includes a data-logging feature providing RF measurement results from a remote site that are logged with measurement masks, thresholds and alarm settings. The software will monitor interference and other RF measurements, and store them automatically. This trend analysis allows service providers to identify problem areas in their networks, provide a higher quality of service and increase customer satisfaction.
