CTH Announces Fiscal 1997 Results.

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 28, 1997--Cancer Treatment Holdings Inc. (ASE/ECM:CTH.EC) Thursday announced financial results for the fiscal year ended May 31, 1997.

Revenues increased to $16,952,000 or 43% in fiscal 1997 from $11,865,000 in fiscal 1996. The company reported a net loss of $332,000 or $.10 a share for the year compared to net income of $352,000 or $.11 a share in 1996. Fiscal 1997's loss includes a provision of $300,000 for potential cost reimbursement disallowances from the Medicare program.

The company also announced that it has opened its radiation center in Lakewood, N.J.

Ullrich Klamm, Ph.D., the company's chairman and CEO commented: "The significant increase in our revenues represents the growth in our home health operation. In an effort to expand our ability to provide home health services, the company incurred start up losses in two new operations in 1997. During the first quarter we opened a Medicare certified home health operation in Florida's District 9 and, under state law, we were required to establish a clinical infrastructure prior to commencing operations. During the year we also committed significant personnel and resources in an attempt to develop a private home health operation which we anticipate will be profitable by the third quarter of our fiscal 1998. Under the company's accounting policy, these start up costs were recorded as expenses when they were incurred. The company also increased its reserve for potential cost reimbursement disallowances from the Medicare program by $300,000."

CTH is engaged in the ambulatory treatment of cancer using a variety of modalities including home health care, radiation therapy and bone marrow transplants.
