CTFA publishes updated microbiology guidelines.

* The Cosmetic, Toiletry and Fragrance Association (CTFA) recently published the CTFA Microbiology Guidelines 2005 Update on CD ROM. The updated CD guides cosmetic manufacturers, suppliers and packagers in establishing up-to-date microbiology quality and safety assurance programs.

The new guidelines provide information on microbiology staff training; offer advice on conducting risk assessment and testing of cosmetic formulations; and provides procedures for preservation testing of nonwoven substrate personal care products. Updated guidelines include information on microbiological assessments of product quality after use, as well as establishing microbial quality of cosmetic products.
