* The Cosmetic, Toiletry and Fragrance Association (CTFA) published its updated 2001 CTFA Microbiology Guidelines to aid cosmetic manufacturers, suppliers and packagers in establishing and maintaining current microbiology safety and assurance programs. This year, the guidelines feature a glossary of microbiology terms and updated information on microbiological limits for cosmetics and toiletries, cleaning and sanitization, quality assurance, raw material microbial limits and microbial validation and documentation.

In other CTFA news, the seventh edition of the CFTA Labeling Manual: A guide to cosmetic and OTC drug labeling and advertising is available.
