CTC will take delivery of voice services gateways with the capacity to support more than 75,000 voice ports, which will significantly increase the capacity of CTC's packet-based multiservice broadband access network. Delivery of the additional equipment is scheduled to be completed between now and the first quarter of 2001. The deployment of these gateways will be in addition to those already deployed by CTC.

CTC will also continue to roll out Accelerated's award-winning AN-30 integrated access devices An IAD is a customer premises device that provides access to wide area networks and the Internet. Specifically, it aggregates multiple channels of information including voice and data across a single shared access link to a carrier or service provider PoP (Point of Presence).  (IADs) and the recently announced AN-32, which is capable of supporting up to 48 voice channels using inverse multiplexing over ATM (IMA (Interactive Multimedia Association, Annapolis, MD) An earlier trade association founded in 1988 originally as the Interactive Video Industry Association. It provided an open process for adopting existing technologies and was involved in subjects such as networked services, scripting ). Both IADs provide for the delivery of integrated voice and data services to CTC's medium-to-large-sized business customers.

"We have been working closely with Accelerated Networks for over a year now," said Frederic Kunzi, chief technology officer at CTC, "because we share a vision for how one packet-based network carrying both voice and data offers cost savings and simplifies service delivery, while still giving business customers the quality and types of services they demand."

"CTC has been an excellent partner," said Suresh Nihalani, president and chief executive officer of Accelerated Networks. "We are enthusiastic about their continued growth using our standards-based voice gateways and IADs. We believe that CTC today has the largest deployed packet-based multiservice broadband access network in the nation, and the additional build-out will help keep them out in front."

To date, CTC has turned on multiservice delivery to more than 1,000 end-user customers in the Northeastern portion of the United States United States, officially United States of America, republic (2005 est. pop. 295,734,000), 3,539,227 sq mi (9,166,598 sq km), North America.
