CTC Communications Launches PowerNet Internet Access; Dedicated Internet Service to Be Offered to Business Customers in Northeast.

WALTHAM, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 25, 2003

 this competitively priced dedicated Internet access service at varying bandwidths from 384 Kbps, 768 Kbps and 1.544 Kbps. The service will be available immediately in most markets and will be rolled out progressively across CTC's service area in 2003. PowerNet Internet will be available both on its own and in combination with certain advanced services from CTC's Advanced Technology Center. PowerNet will be operated on CTC's high-performance PowerPath(R) converged IP network.

The Company expects PowerNet to be the first in a series of new product offerings provided over CTC's PowerPath(R) network that will not require an integrated access device An IAD is a customer premises device that provides access to wide area networks and the Internet. Specifically, it aggregates multiple channels of information including voice and data across a single shared access link to a carrier or service provider PoP (Point of Presence).  (IAD (Integrated Access Device) A device that multiplexes a variety of communications technologies in the customer's premises onto a single telephone line for transmission to the carrier. It also demultiplexes the incoming streams into their respective channels. ) to be installed on the customer's premises.
