CT Communications Offers New Block-the-Blocker Service.


CONCORD, N.C.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 15, 1998-- Beginning November 20, 1998, CT Communications CT Communications was a telecommunications company in the U.S. state of North Carolina. It also served South Carolina.

 BB:CNOTB), (CTC CTC - Cornell Theory Center ) will offer to its single party customers a new service called Block-the-Blocker.

This service allows customers to block calls from people who use Caller ID A telephone company service that sends the caller's telephone number between the first and second ring of the call. If the calling number is not blocked, the calling number is displayed on the handset or base station of the called party.  Blocking. When customers activate Block-the-Blocker on their phones, the service rejects calls in which the person calling has blocked delivery of his/her phone number through Caller ID Blocking. That caller will hear a recorded message advising that the call cannot be completed unless the caller unblocks delivery of the phone number.

Block-the-Blocker is available for $2.00 per month. Customers who currently subscribe to Verb 1. subscribe to - receive or obtain regularly; "We take the Times every day"

 Caller ID service will receive Block-the-Blocker at no additional charge. (Customers do not have to subscribe to Caller ID in order to have Block-the-Blocker.)

After Novewmber 20, CTC will automatically add Block-the-Blocker to lines of existing Caller ID customers. CTC will add this feature but not "turn it on." Customers who subscribe to Caller ID should dial *77 (asterisk, 7, 7) and then hang up. This will activate the feature. To deactivate de·ac·ti·vate
