Railroad giant to develop new publishing and distribution

systems using Interleaf's document management tools

Interleaf, Inc. (NASDAQ:LEAF), the market leader in document management solutions, today announced that CSX Transportation, Inc. (CSXT), a unit of CSX Corporation, has entered into an agreement to license software and receive services from Interleaf for the development of a new Tariff Publishing and Distribution System.

The $4.8 billion railroad company will be using Interleaf's software across the enterprise and beyond to substantially reduce cost and cycle time for key documents related to tariff and other customer pricing.

CSXT will use customized versions of Interleaf 6 electronic publishing application, RDM document management engine, and WorldView viewing and distribution system to reengineer the process of creating, managing, updating and distributing its price documents. CSXT's price documents range in size from 40 to 5,000 pages and may be issued multiple times throughout the year. The documents are distributed internally for review and externally to as many as 3,000 customers.

Currently, CSXT publishes transportation pricing data for distribution to customers and other railroads using paper-based publications, generating over 12 million pages of paper per year for tariff publications. CSXT anticipates it will be able to decrease its paper consumption 50 percent annually by initially publishing electronic versions for internal reviews, and eventually publishing prices electronically for its customers over the Internet and other electronic distribution networks.
