CSUN VS. IDAHO ST.: A CLOSER LOOK : NOTEBOOK TEAM MARKS WON'T ELUDE LINEBACKER.


Linebacker Marc Goodson, Cal State Northridge All-American candidate, entered Saturday night's game within striking distance of three school tackling records.

Goodson, a senior from San Leandro San Leandro (săn lēăn`drō), city (1990 pop. 68,223), Alameda co., W Calif., on San Francisco Bay; inc. 1872. Metal, wood, and paper products; chemicals; leather goods; foods and beverages; medical equipment; lighting fixtures; and , needed six total tackles to break Eric Treibatch's record of 252. Goodson also needed eight solo tackles to pass Treibatch's total of 141.

Goodson, who led the Matadors with 97 tackles through the first nine games, needed only two to break Reggie Wauls' career mark of 114 assisted tackles.

``I love (breaking records),'' Goodson said. ``That's what I want. I want people to know who I am.''

Goodson, who transferred to CSUN CSUN California State University Northridge  after he was named the state junior college defensive player of the year for Laney College Laney College originally opened in 1953 as Oakland City College, at the former University High School campus (which operated from 1923 to 1948). It offers both certificates and credits for prerequisites to transfer to four year universities.  in 1994, already set the school record for tackles in a season with 150 last year. But he never keeps count during games.
