CSUN UNVEILS ITS NEW LOGO.Cal State Northridge's ``modernized Matador'' came to life when the school unveiled the new logo Friday afternoon. Most of the techniques used by modern matadors were established in the 1910s by Juan Belmonte (b. 1894–d. as a mascot along with the word-marks, which are intended to be distinct for the athletic program. Funding for the project came out of the athletic budget, from corporate sponsorship funds and a pledge of $20,000 from 1970 CSUN graduate Larry Elins. The project cost $26,000. ``This gives us more of an action look, which I feel good about,'' said CSUN athletic director Paul Bubb. ``Also, we not only have one logo, but a series of word-marks to use on apparel, uniforms or the (gym) floor.'' A school-panel picked the logo, which was chosen from about 40 different versions. |
