CSUN THROTTLES MISMATCHED IRVINE : CSUN 77, UC IRVINE 53.

Sloppy at the start but streaking now, the Matadors routed visiting UC Irvine 77-53 Saturday night in front of 493 at the Northridge gym.

It was the Matadors' largest margin of victory since beating Cal Poly Cal Poly may refer to:

His brother, Derrick, tied a school record with seven steals, the same record Keith tied earlier in the season. Derrick, a junior, also scored 12 points. And junior point guard Lucky Grundy scored 13 points after scoring a career-high 15 two nights earlier.

Next up is UC Santa Barbara, which comes to town Monday. The Gauchos lost earlier this season to Pepperdine, which Northridge beat Thursday to start this momentous streak. (Momentous in that it halted a span of nine games in which Northridge had not been able to follow a win with a win.)

The Matadors' last three-game winning streak was in 1992.

Too often since Northridge beat San Luis Obispo and Sacramento State in successive games two Februaries ago, chances at a winning streak have ended in heartbreak.
