Home runs by Chelo Lopez and Scia Maumausolo and three doubles were the driving force in the top-seeded Matadors' 5-0 win over Southwest Missouri State.

``They certainly have some good sticks,'' said Southwest Missouri coach Holly Hesse. ``Hitters 3 (Maumausolo), 4, (Lopez), 5 (Jennifer Richardson) and 6 (Shelby Wilcox) really hit the ball and that was the difference in the first inning in·ning

One-hit pitching by the tandem of Richardson and Tara Glaister (22-7) didn't hurt the Matadors, either.

Northridge coach Janet Sherman said she planned to split the pitching between Richardson, who went three innings INNINGS, estates. Lands gained from the sea by draining. Cunn. L. Dict. h. t.; Law of Sewers, 31.  and gave up the only hit, and Glaister, who had eight strikeouts in her four innings.

``We wanted to throw Jennifer in there, get her some innings and get her comfortable,'' Sherman said. ``And we wanted to throw Tara in there, get her some innings and get her comfortable.''

So who goes today?

``We'll see,'' Sherman said. ``Probably both.''

The Matadors (43-14) played with the poise and confidence of a veteran team from the opening pitch Friday. Maumausolo found that a pleasant surprise.

``We came out in the first inning and our jitters jitters 'Butterflies' Psychology An episode of nervousness or anxiety that often precedes a public event; jitters is a type of performance anxiety which may affect actors in a stage production–stage fright or soloist musicians; it may respond to anxiolytics  were gone,'' she said. ``That's kind of surprising, considering how many new players we have on this team.''

Today's full schedule is Fullerton vs. Northridge at 1 p.m., UCLA vs. Southwest Missouri State at 3:30 p.m., with the Fullerton-Northridge loser playing the UCLA-Missouri winner at 6 p.m.

The regional championship will be decided at 1 p.m. Sunday, with another game at 3:30, if necessary.

The champion will join seven other regional champs in Columbus, Ga., Wednesday for the College World Series.
