a 14-point deficit, pulling to within three in the final minute, but Idaho State held on for a 73-67 Big Sky Conference win in the regular-season finale Saturday night before 1,067 at Northridge.

Northridge (12-14, 8-8) will play Montana State on Thursday in the opening round of the Big Sky Conference tournament at Northern Arizona Northern Arizona is dominated by the Colorado Plateau, the southern border of which in Arizona is called the Mogollon Rim. The Matadors were plagued by a season-high 27 turnovers, and with Derrick derrick: see crane.

Higgins (25 points, a career high) the only Northridge player doing much offensively, the rest of the team could not pick up the slack.

Down 70-67 with 29 seconds remaining, Northridge could get no closer; Idaho State (14-12, 9-7) made 3 of 4 free throws to account for the final points.

``We gave the game away,'' shrugged Keith Higgins Keith Higgins is a Gaelic football player for Mayo. He plays his club football for Ballyhaunis. In 2006, he was award the Young Player of the year. He is currently injured and ruled out of the 2007 championship.[1] , who grabbed 11 rebounds but managed just six points against five turnovers. ``Good teams keep the pressure on, but we relaxed. I'm tired of it.''

Northridge coach Bobby Braswell Bobby Braswell, an American basketball coach, is currently the head coach for Cal State Northridge. ``I wish I could say their guys wanted it more than our guys, but that just wasn't the case,'' Braswell said. ``When we had opportunities at the end, we just did not convert. I think maybe we were a little too emotional. We've just got to play better. . . .''

A key play occurred when Northridge's Brady Mertes attempted a layup with 41 seconds remaining that could have made it a two-point game. Idaho State's Rob Preston appeared to have been guilty of goaltending goal·tend·ing

Was it goaltending?

``Absolutely,'' Braswell said. ``(The refs) blew the call - print that.''

Braswell sees the upcoming Big Sky tournament as a new season for Northridge, but he was quick to point out that the Matadors will have to change their ways to succeed.

``It's a brand new season, that's our mentality,'' he said. ``But the way we've been playing - all these turnovers and shooting 55 percent from the line (16 of 29), that's not going to get it done.''

After starting out reasonably well - the Matadors took an early 11-7 advantage - Northridge played sloppily slop·py
