CSUN NOTEBOOK: STILL SMARTING FROM LOSS, CSUN GETS SCREAM THERAPY AT PRACTICE.Byline: Brian Dohn Daily News Staff Writer The glazed glaze n. 1. A thin smooth shiny coating. 2. The right cross to the chin landed 72 hours ago, but Cal State Northridge continued to go through Tuesday's practice shell-shocked from Saturday's loss to Sacramento State. That's why CSUN CSUN California State University Northridge coach Ron Ponciano's voice bellowed across the North Campus practice fields Tuesday afternoon, barking bark 1 n. 1. Then the coaches can see what I want done.'' Montana State is four days away, but the 24th-ranked Matadors (4-2, 3-1 Big Sky) are trying to get over a 35-21 loss that continues to sting. And when you can't shake a three-day-old hangover, it makes it difficult for the Matadors to fight for a playoff play·off also play-off n. Sports 1. See Synonyms at shout. n. was good,'' CSUN receiver Aaron Arnold said. ``Guys were a little down on themselves, and even though yelling will usually get you more down, I think yelling in this situation will get you more up. This is showing us that the coaches really care and they want to win just as much as we do.'' The moveable force: When Ponciano looked at the Sacramento State game film, he offered this opinion on the defensive line: ``The majority of the time we got blown off the ball,'' Ponciano said. ``That's pretty disturbing.'' So the Matadors got back to the basics of taking on a block during Tuesday's practice and will concentrate more on stopping Montana State's running game, which is averaging 138 yards per game. CSUN junior nose guard Mike Colunga didn't make the trip to Sacramento State, but will play against Montana State. ``I think coach Ponciano brought me here to play run defense,'' the 6-foot-2, 290-pound Colunga said. ``That's what I do. I play run defense. That's my job. I just have to stay low. I'm in a position where I get double-teamed a lot. I always try to fight through and stay low, and if I have to I'll eat grass and let the linebackers (make tackles).'' The rotation of the defensive line will be settled later in the week, but that's not the only place where change is being made. Kenny Knoop, a senior from John Burroughs High, saw time at linebacker and could fit into the Matadors' scheme this week.
