CSUN NOTEBOOK: NORTHRIDGE SIGNS STAR FROM SAN DIEGO.

My brother told me to make my own decision and do what was right for me. He didn't really trip when I told him I was going to Northridge.''

Northridge also received an oral commitment from All-City inside linebacker David Melo of Taft High. The 6-3, 230-pounder was a late qualifier academically and took a visit to San Diego State.

Spring fling: The Matadors begin spring practice Monday, will be in full pads March 19 and scrimmage March 21. Modesto College offensive coordinator Keith Borges was hired to be the running backs coach, Division III Crown College (Minn.) coach Craig Hall was hired to be the defensive coordinator and former CSUN assistant Foster Anderson will be a part-time secondary coach.
