The NCAA protects the top four seeds in the softball Regionals. In theory, that means the No. 4 seed will be placed in an easier regional than, say, the 24th-ranked team in the country. But the NCAA also is strict about placing teams in the same geographic area in the same regional whenever possible. Fresno State, seeded third, will host Texas A&M, Long Beach State and California. |
