CSUN GETS OT TREAT; HARVEY'S TOUCHDOWN RUN BEATS PESKY SACRAMENTO STATE : NORTHRIDGE 45, SACRAMENTO STATE 38.Byline: Marc J. Spears Daily News Staff Writer Cal State Northridge overcame a pre-Halloween scare from Sacramento State on Saturday night. The Matadors overcame a comedy of errors for an ``ugly'' 45-38 overtime triumph in front of a homecoming crowd of 5,104 at North Campus Stadium when CSUN's Kenny Knoop ended the game with an interception. ``I just kind of just sat there and waited for the ball,'' said Knoop, a backup strong safety who had two interceptions. ``It was real good to come together after halftime (down 14-7). The Matadors' game-winning touchdown came on a 1-yard run by Marcus Harvey Marcus Harvey (born 1963 in Leeds) is an English artist and painter, and one of the Young British Artists (YBAs). Exhibitions Harvey has shown work internationally in many exhibitions including ‘The Führer's Cakes’ at Galleria Marabini in Bologna, , his second TD of the game, on the Matadors' first possession of overtime. The Hornets were aided by an 89-yard kickoff touchdown return, a 95-yard interception touchdown return, a blocked field goal and a 26-yard fumble recovery for a touchdown. They forced overtime with a field goal with just five seconds left. But Northridge left with the victory in its first overtime game ever. ``It's a win,'' said CSUN CSUN California State University Northridge coach Jim Fenwick. ``It's ugly, but it is a win. It counts and we'll move on.'' The victory pushed CSUN to 4-4 on the season and 2-2 in the Big Sky Conference. Sacramento State dropped to 1-6 overall and 1-4 in the Big Sky. Fenwick said, ``I don't think our kids took Sacramento State seriously. We warned our kids and tried to prepare them.'' Flowers was making his first start after missing three games because of a fractured right leg. The preseason All-American was impressive, completing 43 of a school-record 69 pass attempts for 469 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions. Henry caught 15 passes for 177 yards and two touchdowns while Drew Hill had 13 catches for 139 yards and a touchdown. The Matadors had 624 yards in total offense. Hill, however, fumbled twice and CSUN had six turnovers even though the Hornets entered as the conference's worst team in most defensive categories. ``It never should have been that close,'' said Flowers, who said his leg was hurting. ``We should've beaten those guys by 30 points. Turnovers killed us.'' The Hornets took a 35-31 lead with just 1:59 left when Cory Messer caught a 2-yard pass from A.J. Bernhardt. The Matadors' stormed back to take a 38-35 lead just 53 seconds later when a limping Flowers found Henry in the back of the end zone for a 30-yard touchdown reception. But the Matadors' defense couldn't stop the Hornets as a 34-yard field goal by Scott Brown Scott Brown may refer to:

The Hornets followed by earning a first down, but Bernhardt threw a wild pass on second-and-8 on the 13-yard line that ended up in the hands of Knoop. The Matadors piled on Knoop while many Hornets fell to the ground. The Matadors actually took a 7-0 lead when Jerome Henry caught a 3-yard touchdown pass from Flowers at the 8:47 mark in the second quarter.
