Cal State Northridge has filled an open position in its athletic department and an open date on its football schedule.

Athletic director Athletic director (commonly, "athletics director") is a position at many American colleges and universities, as well as in larger high schools and middle schools, which oversees the work of the coaches and related staff involved in intercollegiate or interscholastic athletic  Dick Dull announced Friday that Darryl Pope is the department's new director of compliance. Pope is leaving a similar position in compliance at Temple, where he's been since last year.

Pope is a 1986 graduate of Howard with a background in tennis; he won the Chicago high school singles championship before attending Howard and was an assistant men's and women's tennis coach at Grambling in 1986-87 and Illinois-Chicago in 1988.
