The company's partners, Mike and Danny Szarowicz, will remain active in the business. Mike will be responsible for overall company operations while Danny will manage sales for the Oldsmar and Hudson offices. David Bonnell and Tom Prendergast, partners in Zarco's Lakeland, Pensacola and Panama City offices, also will continue their management responsibilities with the company.

Rinker also acquired Kennedy Concrete Inc., a niche, specialty concrete company with plants in Orlando and Bushnell. While Rinker is the nation's largest supplier of concrete and concrete block, the company has not traditionally offered services to the smaller, C.O.D. market.

According to Karl Watson Jr., general manager of Rinker's Materials Division-North, Kennedy Concrete will help the company create a strong presence in that market.

"The acquisition of Kennedy Concrete is part of Rinker's strategy to provide superior service and added value to customers in Florida," said Watson.

"Our employees, more than 3,000 strong throughout the state, now can service every type of concrete job -- from monolithic pours of more than 10,000 yards to small backyard swimming pools. And we'll deliver Rinker quality and dependability on each job, no matter the size."

Bruce and Charles Kennedy, founders of Kennedy Concrete and former employees of Rinker Materials, will retain their executive positions with the company.
