CSR Leading Light of Deloitte Technology Fast 50 Company Heads Eastern Region Ranking at Annual Awards.


CAMBRIDGE, England -- CSR plc CSR (LSE: CSR), or Cambridge Silicon Radio is a company based in Cambridge, England whose main product line is a single-chip implementation of the Bluetooth standard for radio-signal communication between devices. The Deloitte Technology Fast 50 is an annual ranking which recognises the fifty fastest growing companies in different regions around the country, based on percentage revenue growth from 2000 to 2004. Ranked companies work within different areas of technology, from semiconductors, software and the Internet to communications, peripherals and computing. Companies must be at least five years old in order to be eligible for consideration. Last year however, during its fourth year of operation, CSR won the individual Rising Star award which recognised the company's outstanding performance thus-far.

This year, the company has been recognised for its year-on-year financial growth through its innovative approach to the wireless communications market. CSR is a provider of small, single-chip wireless technology and was the first company to produce its technology using the CMOS (Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor) Pronounced "c-moss." In March 2005, CSR acquired Clarity Technologies Inc., for its Clear Voice Capture (CVC See CSC. ) technology that enhances the audio performance of any voice-based product or system. Applications for CVC include wireless headsets, handsets and automotive hands free systems.

In August 2005, CSR completed the acquisition of UbiNetics' software business, providing a strong R&D team to accelerate its existing software development in Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and UWB (Ultra-WideBand) A wireless technology that uses less power and provides higher speed than 802.11 Wi-Fi networks or first-generation Bluetooth products. UWB is expected to provide wireless video transmission for home theater systems, cable TV, auto safety and . The UbiNetics team gives CSR the capacity to extend its offering to mobile handset customers.
