CSR Adds Integrated Echo Cancellation to its RoadRunner Plug-n-Talk Reference Design.

Production Ready, Versatile Reference Design for Low Cost, Handsfree Applications

CAMBRIDGE, England -- CSR (1) (Customer Service Representative) A person who handles a customer's request regarding a bill, account changes or service or merchandise ordered. Agents in call centers are known as CSRs. See call center.  (LSE LSE - Language Sensitive Editor :CSR):

Plug-n-Talk through an integrated echo cancellation feature. Available now, RoadRunner Plug-n-Talk is a ready engineered, fully interoperable reference design supplying OEMs and ODMs with a customisable package from which to create a low cost Bluetooth handsfree kit. The implementation of the integrated echo cancellation feature further boosts this already proven design, and provides greater enhanced sound quality whilst in the automotive cabin environment.

CSR's RoadRunner is a complete, production ready solution, offering everything needed to create a state of the art, handsfree application. Based on BlueCore3-Multimedia with on-chip DSP (1) (Digital Signal Processor) A special-purpose CPU used for digital signal processing applications (see definition #2 below). It provides ultra-fast instruction sequences, such as shift and add, and multiply and add, which are commonly used in math-intensive  and CODEC, it provides all the elements needed to take an idea into production in the shortest period of time. Included in the package is CSR's BlueLab software, a configuration tool that offers full access to the source code, allowing designers to alter the Flash parameters and change elements such as call handling, PIO PIO Public Information Office

and ring tones, without disrupting the pre-established Bluetooth device interoperability. Designers will be able to differentiate easily and customise their products in the battle to maintain a competitive edge.

The accelerated uptake of Bluetooth based, handsfree kits, has had a major impact on the global trend towards handsfree driving. Recent changes to legislation have reinforced the dangers attached to using mobile phones whilst at the wheel, to include the use of handsfree kits. There are numerous automotive kits currently on the market catering for factory fitted and aftermarket solutions, however a common criticism of both has been poor audio quality and difficulties in fine-tuning between the speaker and microphone.

The integrated echo noise cancellation feature boasts a parameter manager allowing fine-tuning to the final suite product, and has been implemented as the preferred solution by major car manufacturers across the world. RoadRunner also benefits from CSR's proprietary Clear Voice Capture (CVC See CSC. ) software. The addition of CVC further improves voice quality by combining advanced echo and noise suppression algorithms, which allow the speaker's voice to be transmitted to the caller at the other end of the line with more clarity.

TTS offers voice prompts for handsfree operations including incoming caller ID, PIN code alert announcements and fixed phrases during device operation.

Rafik Jallad, Vice President of CSR's Automotive Strategic Business Unit commented, 'Changes in legalisation have called for stricter rulings on the use of handsfree technology. We feel that the addition of integrated echo noise cancellation will further boost the attributes of CSR's RoadRunner to be at the cutting edge in supporting consumers with the technology needed to ensure their safety isn't compromised.'
