CAMBRIDGE, England -- Third graph, second sentence of release has been removed.

The corrected release reads:

CSR'S BLUETOOTH REACHES 50 MILLION MILESTONE

CSR PLC CSR (LSE: CSR), or Cambridge Silicon Radio is a company based in Cambridge, England whose main product line is a single-chip implementation of the Bluetooth standard for radio-signal communication between devices. CSR is a fabless semiconductor manufacturer.  (LSE LSE - Language Sensitive Editor :CSR (1) (Customer Service Representative) A person who handles a customer's request regarding a bill, account changes or service or merchandise ordered. Agents in call centers are known as CSRs. See call center. ), the single-chip wireless systems company, today announced that it has shipped 50 million Bluetooth chips since its foundation. CSR's landmark shipment figures indicate that Bluetooth technology is now well established, and recent forecasts indicate that the market is flourishing. CSR's Bluetooth silicon, called BlueCore, is integrated into mobile devices made by many leading names in the electronics industry including Nokia, IBM (International Business Machines Corporation, Armonk, NY, www.ibm.com) The world's largest computer company. IBM's product lines include the S/390 mainframes (zSeries), AS/400 midrange business systems (iSeries), RS/6000 workstations and servers (pSeries), Intel-based servers (xSeries) , Motorola and Sony. As Stuart Carlaw, Group Manager for the Wireless Communications Group at IMS (1) See IP Multimedia Subsystem.

Research, pointed out: "CSR is the leading supplier of Bluetooth IC solutions to the market."

As one of the first players in the Bluetooth wireless technology arena, CSR has built a strong reputation for innovation and has been heavily involved in working from within the Bluetooth Special Interest Group The Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG) is the body that oversees the development of Bluetooth standards and the licensing of the Bluetooth technologies and trademarks to manufacturers. . This collaboration has helped strengthen the technology to the point of maturation that Bluetooth represents today.

According to IMS Research, over 3 million Bluetooth devices are currently shipping each week. Today, CSR has a silicon volume share of 42 percent with share of end product design wins exceeding 60 percent.

The Bluetooth SIG announced Bluetooth EDR (Enhanced Data Rate) An acronym occasionally used to reflect an advancement in transmission or transfer speed. For example, Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR provides a dramatic increase in speed over the previous version. See Bluetooth.  (enhanced data rate) in June 2004, widening the potential applications for the technology, and further strengthening the market. CSR launched BlueCore4, its EDR ready silicon, at the same time. EDR offers lower power consumption and data transfer rates 3-times faster than current v1.2 Bluetooth. These enhancements in Bluetooth EDR mean that applications such as wirelessly streaming music from a PC to Bluetooth headphones Head-mounted speakers. Headphones have a strap that rests on top of the head, positioning a pair of speakers over both ears. For listening to music or monitoring live performances and audio tracks, both left and right channels are required. , or high-resolution picture exchange between mobile phones, can all be achieved faster, more efficiently, and with lower power consumption.

John Hodgson, Chief Executive Officer, CSR commented, "It is interesting to see the spread of devices that now incorporate Bluetooth technology: from top-of-the-range cars, right across to mainstream electronics devices. CSR's landmark 50 million shipment figure is indicative of the growing infusion of Bluetooth technology in consumer electronics, including mobile handsets, PDAs and laptop computers."

Hodgson continued, "The burgeoning sales figures of Bluetooth headsets in particular indicate that consumers are definitely using the Bluetooth functionality of their mobile handsets, which can also be used for connections such as synchronising address books with a laptop, PDA (Personal Digital Assistant) A handheld computer for managing contacts, appointments and tasks. It typically includes a name and address database, calendar, to-do list and note taker, which are the functions in a personal information manager (see PIM).  or in-car handsfree kit. As a leading supplier of Bluetooth, at the forefront of its technological development, CSR is well positioned to capitalise on the growth of this exciting market."
