CSR today announced full availability of development kits for its highly successful BlueTunes ROM solution for low cost, high-performance stereo Bluetooth headsets. The BTN-003-1A development kit makes BlueTunes ROM the quickest and most cost-effective solution for designing stereo headsets and wireless speakers. CSR's BlueTunes ROM and development kits are shipping now.

CSR's BlueTunes ROM development kit significantly simplifies the design challenges of differentiating stereo Bluetooth headset designs by adding additional quality enhancement features. The BTN-003-1A kit comes complete with a headset demonstrator board, example stereo headset design, audio adaptor and Music Voice (MV) dongle The term was originally slang for a "hardware key." Today, the term is often used to refer to any small adapter that has a short cable with connectors at both ends. See hardware key and PC Card dongle. . In addition the development kit also features a parameter tool for tuning the audio performance for listening to music and voice calls.

CSR has designed BlueTunes ROM to be a cost effective solution for stereo headsets without compromising on audio performance and functionality. It features CSR's proprietary FastStream low latency CODEC for video and gaming applications, and configurable CSR Clear Voice Capture (CVC See CSC. ) single and dual-microphone algorithms for superior echo and noise suppression, enabling users to be better heard in noisy environments.

"With the availability of BlueTunes ROM and the development kit, manufacturers can bring their Bluetooth stereo headsets to market quickly and cost effectively," said Anthony Murray, Senior Vice President of CSR's Audio and Connectivity Business Unit. "In spite of its low cost, the BlueTunes ROM development kit offers headset designers the ability to not only differentiate their products, but to get them to market in the shortest time possible. The BlueTunes ROM development kit is set to create a whole new generation of exciting, cost effective and high performance stereo Bluetooth headset and speaker designs."

BlueTunes ROM is based on CSR's BlueCore5-Multimedia technology. BlueCore5-Multimedia provides exceptional Bluetooth audio performance with an integrated stereo CODEC providing 95dB SNR See signal-to-noise ratio.

BlueTunes ROM supports both SBC (1) (SBC Communications Inc., San Antonio, TX, www.sbc.com) A large, national telecommunications company that grew from a multitude of local and regional companies, including Southwestern Bell, Pacific Bell and Nevada Bell, into a single, unified brand by 2002.  and MP3 (licence required) decoding for improved audio quality on music playback, together with a configurable five band EQ to improve the end-user experience. The low power design of BlueTunes ROM enables over 10hrs of music playback from a 180mAh battery.
