CSPA hosts breakfast for Rep. Stenholm. (Regulations).

* The Consumer Specialty Products Association (CSPA) hosted a special breakfast meeting Oct. 9 for Representative Charles Stenholm (D-TX), at the association's headquarters. The meeting was held in conjunction with CSPA's fall board meeting.

The event was attended by board officers, directors and members. Among CSPA's attendees were Christopher Cathcart, president and chief operating officer and Phil Klein, senior vice president, federal legislative affairs.

According to a CSPA spokesperson, Rep. Stenholm has been a strong ally of the CSPA for years, and is one of the leaders of the "Blue Dogs," a conservative arm of the Democratic Party.

In addition, Rep. Stenholm serves as policy co-chair on the House Democratic Policy committee, is a member of the House Agriculture committee and is a voice on the Democratic Leadership Advisory group.

Breakfast meeting attendees included representatives from the American Chemistry Council, American Nursery and Landscaping Association, Bayer CropScience, Bonide Products, Chemsico Inc., The Clorox Company, Ecolab Inc., Interpolymer Corp., 3M Company, Procter & Gamble Company, Reckitt Benckiser, S.C. Johnson & Son, Steptoe & Johnson, Speer Products and Wellmark International.

In other news, CSPA's federal legislative affairs department is promoting new pesticide legislation. CSPA officials said the organization strongly supports a bill, H.R. 5329, that would broaden the definition of "public health pesticides" under the Federal Insecticide, Fungicide and Rodenticide Act. Executives hope the action by Congress will help protect public health.
