CSPA Senior VP and General Counsel Steve Kellner to Retire.

) Senior Vice President and General Counsel Steve Kellner announced plans to retire May 31 after more than 33 years with the Association.

Kellner is a recognized expert on pesticide regulation and registration issues and has worked extensively with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), independent agency of the U.S. government, with headquarters in Washington, D.C. It was established in 1970 to reduce and control air and water pollution, noise pollution, and radiation and to ensure the safe handling and . During his tenure, he also worked closely with numerous other federal agencies including the Federal Trade Commission, the Food and Drug Administration, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), U.S. agency established (1970) in the Dept. of Labor (see Labor, United States Department of) to develop and enforce regulations for the safety and health of workers in businesses that are engaged in interstate  and the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) is the federal agency responsible for conducting research and making recommendations for the prevention of work-related injury and illness. .

Kellner joined CSPA (then known as the Chemical Specialties Manufacturers Association) as Director of Legislative and Regulatory Affairs Regulatory Affairs (RA), also called Government Affairs, is a profession within regulated industries, such as pharmaceuticals, medical devices, energy, and banking. Regulatory Affairs professionals usually have responsibility for the following general areas:

. He became Vice President of Legal Affairs in 1979 and was named Senior Vice President and General Counsel in 1998.

Kellner received his law degree from the American University Washington College of Law The American University Washington College of Law (WCL) is a private ABA-certified American law school. It is located on Massachusetts Avenue in the Spring Valley area of Northwest Washington, DC.  in 1967. Prior to joining CSPA, he was a federal regulatory attorney with the Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association.

"You would have to look long and hard to find anyone who has contributed as much to our industry as Steve Kellner," said CSPA President Chris Cathcart. "He will be missed by everyone at CSPA and his many friends in the industry."

Kellner will be honored at a special reception on May 9 during CSPA's Mid-Year Meeting in Chicago. Brigid Klein, formerly Assistant General Counsel, assumed the role of Vice President and General Counsel on February 15, at which time Kellner became Special Counsel to the President.

The Consumer Specialty Products Association is a non-profit national trade association representing approximately 260 companies engaged in the manufacture, formulation, distribution and sale of hundreds of familiar consumer products. It is organized into seven divisions: Aerosol Products, Air Care, Antimicrobial Products, Cleaning Products, Pest Management Products, Industrial and Automotive Specialty Chemicals, and Polishes and Floor Maintenance.
