Other factors involved in choosing SmartSockets, Mulligan explained, was the software's flexibility - which saved CSFB tedious development of point-to-point communications; transparent fault tolerance - without requiring a separate API; and load balancing capabilities -- to improve throughput when delivering messages in publish-subscribe or one-to-many fashion.
