CSC wins $113 million contract to support DOD accounting unit.

:CSC) has been awarded a contract to provide integrated technical support services in support of the Defense Finance and Accounting Service The Defense Finance and Accounting Service (DFAS), an agency of the United States Department of Defense, provides finance and accounting services for the military and other members of defense.

In FY 2004, DFAS:
  • Processed 104M pay transactions to 5.
 - Financial Systems Organization (FSO (Free Space Optics) Transmitting optical signals through the air using infrared lasers. Also known as "wireless optics," FSO provides point-to-point and point-to-multipoint transmission at very high speeds without requiring a government license for use of the spectrum. ).

Under the terms of the contract, CSC will support Defense Finance and Accounting Service (DFAS DFAS Defense Finance & Accounting Service (US DoD)
DFAS Decorative and Fine Arts Society (The Hague, Holland)
DFAS Dark Field Alignment System
DFAS Department of Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences
) financial systems activities and operating locations throughout the United States. The indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity task-order contract contains a base value of $24 million and a cumulative value of $113 million if all options are exercised over a five-year period.

CSC will provide hardware migration and installation, systems modernization, maintenance, technology, documentation, training, quality assurance, project management, and economic and risk analysis. The services will directly support more than 200 DFAS automated information systems as well as ongoing software process improvement initiatives.

The contract will be performed by CSC's Integrated Systems Division and involve several hundred software engineers, financial analysts and other information technology specialists.

DFAS-FSO provides software development and maintenance for finance and accounting systems operated by DFAS and the U.S. Marine Corps. In addition, the agency provides technical support at DFAS headquarters in Arlington, Va., and to DFAS locations in Indianapolis, Cleveland, Columbus, Pensacola, Denver and Kansas City.

"This contract complements both the Joint Computer-aided Acquisition Logistic Support contract and the Defense Enterprise Integration Support contract CSC is now performing for the Department of Defense," said Milton E. Cooper, president of CSC's Systems Group.

"Working together, these contracts create a dynamic synergy which should speed the process as DFAS and other DOD (1) (Dial On Demand) A feature that allows a device to automatically dial a telephone number. An accounting method, used in mergers and acquisitions, where the balance sheet items of the two companies are simply added together.

The opposite of pooling of interests is the purchase acquisition method.
