:CSC) Monday announced a three-year contract with Ford of Europe to develop a system that gives Ford dealers up-to-the-minute data on car buyers and the automobiles they purchase.

The contract, which includes two additional one-year extensions, marks CSC's entry into a new division of Ford of Europe: sales and marketing. Currently, CSC is supporting the company's Customer Service Division (formerly Ford Parts and Services Operations), which last January outsourced its information technology functions to CSC.

Under the new contract, CSC will develop and support a new Dealer Computer Applications System slated to serve 7,000 dealers spanning 15 European countries. Work will be performed by a team of 60 CSC specialists who will continually enhance the system and also provide help-desk support.

The system will give dealers instant access to information spanning sales, financing and servicing of a car, linking into an inventory of parts for needed repairs.
