Honeycutt described the new system as ``a library without walls.'' While most library on-line systems are too complex today for the average user, he noted, the new system will feature a simple-to-follow graphical user interface graphical user interface (GUI) Computer display format that allows the user to select commands, call up files, start programs, and do other routine tasks by using a mouse to point to pictorial symbols (icons) or lists of menu choices on the screen as opposed to having to . Users of the new system will include libraries, educational institutions and hospitals as well as individual users who can access it at home, in the workplace or at school. Currently, databases in Australia and New Zealand contain references to more than 25 million books and other recorded information such as journals, photographs, paintings and videos. The initial system will handle the books and journals. Subsequent releases will support the image information. Work will be performed in Australia by CSC's regional business unit, CSC Australia.
