(NYSE NYSE See: New York Stock Exchange :CSC) has been awarded a contract to provide systems engineering and technical assistance at the U.S. Army Space and Strategic Defense Command in Huntsville, Ala. The multiple-award, indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity task-order contract has a potential value of approximately $740 million if all options are exercised during a five-year period of performance. CSC will support the Army's Space and Strategic Defense Command (SSDC SSDC Society of Stage Directors and Choreographers SSDC Space and Strategic Defense Command SSDC Singapore Safety Driving Centre SSDC Society of Silver Dollar Collectors SSDC Stack Segment Descriptor Cache SSDC Social Security Disability Coalition ) and the Program Executive Office for Air and Missile Defense Missile defence is an air defence system, weapon program, or technology involved in the detection, tracking, interception and destruction of attacking missiles. Originally conceived as a defence against nuclear-armed ICBMs, its application has broadened to include shorter-ranged (PEO-AMD) offices in Huntsville, which are responsible for managing and conducting the Army's research and development efforts in air and missile defense, advancing the technologies of ballistic missile defense/strategic defense systems and providing a system technology base for a range of future defense applications. In addition, CSC will provide assistance to SSDC headquarters in the Washington, D.C., area; Army Space Command, Colorado Springs, Colo.; High Energy Laser Systems Test Facility, White Sands Missile Range White Sands Missile Range (WSMR), formerly known as the White Sands Proving Grounds, is a rocket range in New Mexico operated by the United States Army. The range covers an area of almost 3,200 mi² (8 287 km²), approximately three times the size of Rhode Island, making it , N.M.; and at other worldwide SSDC/PEO-AMD locations as required. Three other companies were awarded contracts in the procurement: Mevatec, Nichols Research Corp. and Teledyne Brown Engineering Teledyne Brown Engineering, or TBE, formerly Brown Engineering, is a Huntsville, AL–based subsidiary of Teledyne Technologies (NYSE: TDY). TBE was acquired by Teledyne Technologies in 1966. . ``Today's contract significantly expands our overall capabilities to provide timely and cost-effective systems engineering, integration and information technology solutions to the U.S. Army,'' Mike Laphen, president, CSC's Integrated Systems Division, said at a contract signing ceremony Wednesday in Huntsville. Specific assistance will include requirements definition, integration and planning; technology development assessment and validation; threat estimation/projections; weapons lethality and effects estimation; engagement simulation and interfacing; and program/project analysis, evaluation and support. Services will be performed by CSC's Integrated Systems Division and involve engineers, computer specialists, management analysts and other skills as required. Teaming with CSC are 10 subcontractors, including the Space and Science Technology Alliance, a unique Alabama consortium of research universities.
