CRYPTOCard authentication server embedded within CiscoSecure ACS 2.0.

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 15, 1997--

Token-Ready Server Enables Cisco Customers To Authenticate

Remote Users At Lowest Possible Cost

CRYPTOCard's authentication server A device used in network access control. It stores the usernames and passwords that identify the clients logging in, or it may hold the algorithms for token access (see authentication token).  is now integrated and will ship with Cisco Systems' newly enhanced access control server, CiscoSecure ACS (Asynchronous Communications Server) See network access server.  2.0. CRYPTOCard's RB-1 authentication token A security device given to authorized users who keep them in their possession. To log into the network, the security "card" or "token" may be read directly like a credit card, or it may display a changing number that is typed in as a password.  operates seamlessly with the new Cisco product, eliminating the need to purchase an additional authentication server. Customers will save thousands to tens-of-thousands of dollars, depending on group size. This advance in security integration allows Cisco's customers to authenticate remote users at the lowest possible cost.

Token support is a major component of CiscoSecure ACS 2.0. By authenticating users against a predefined database of user and group profiles, CiscoSecure ACS 2.0 effectively secures private enterprise and service provider networks from unauthorized access. Synchronized with CiscoSecure, CRYPTOCard's challenge-response tokens generate and display a one-time password (security) One-Time Password - (OTP) A security system that requires a new password every time a user authenticates themselves, thus protecting against an intruder replaying an intercepted password. OTP generates passwords using either the MD4 or MD5 hashing algorithms.  when the user logs into the network.

"Cisco has a strong history of customer foresight," says CRYPTOCard VP of Technology and Development, Stephen Seal. "Here again, Cisco demonstrates leadership by integrating enhanced authentication technology into their products in a way that presents convenience and affordability to customers."

"CRYPTOCard's authentication server is now integrated and shipping with CiscoSecure V2.0," says Charles Yager, Security Product Line Manager for the Access Business Unit at Cisco Systems “Cisco” redirects here. For other uses, see Cisco (disambiguation).
