CRYPTOCard Announces CRYPTOAdmin 4.0 for Upgrading Organizations to Strong Authentication; Multi-environment Platform Automates Challenge-Response Process to Be User Transparent.

KANATA, Ontario--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 14, 1999--

CRYPTOCard today announced CRYPTOAdmin(tm) 4.0 with a new enhancement that makes strong authentication as easy as entering name and password. The token management platform now also features embedded support for the VTCP/Secure(tm) 4.0 VPN (Virtual Private Network) A private network that is configured within a public network (a carrier's network or the Internet) in order to take advantage of the economies of scale and management facilities of large networks.  from InfoExpress, Inc. - providing a simple, secure, and affordable solution for worldwide access to corporate information.

New CRYPTOAgents automate the challenge-response process for software tokens so users simply start the token, enter their personal token credentials (ID and PIN), and are authenticated. In the background, the system ensures that the password used to enter the network is unique, used only once, and immediately discarded. This system is fully integrated into third-party products like the VPN from InfoExpress - creating, in this case, an extremely simple, secure, and affordable extranet-friendly VPN. This particular solution is further detailed in a formal joint announcement released today.

"Organizations today are choosing software tokens for user convenience, and we take that benefit a few steps further with the CRYPTOAgents," says Stephen D. Seal, vice president of development and support for CRYPTOCard. "The vision for CRYPTOAdmin continues to be enabling companies to affordably and seamlessly add strong, easy to use and administer, token-based authentication that simultaneously decreases the high helpdesk cost and security risks associated with static passwords."

CRYPTOAdmin plugs into security and access servers allowing organizations to integrate strong, token-based authentication throughout a mix of ISDN ISDN

, dial-up, and intranet environments. The software is used with any RADIUS/TACACS+ compliant server or application and integrates seamlessly with CRYPTOCard-enabled software, including:

--Cisco Systems' CiscoSecure ACS (Asynchronous Communications Server) See network access server.  (includes CRYPTOAdmin at no additional cost),

--VTCP/Secure 4.0 from InfoExpress, Inc.,

--Steel-Belted Radius(R) from Funk Software, Inc.,

--Firebox(R) II from WatchGuard Technologies, Inc., and

Additional features to release 4.0 include multi-lingual support for RB-1 and ST-1 tokens, as well as platform support for Linux, AIX (Advanced Interactive eXecutive) IBM's Unix-based operating system which runs on its Intellistation workstations and pSeries, p5, iSeries and i5 server families.  and FreeBSD.

There is no annual license or maintenance fee for CRYPTOAdmin 4.0 or CRYPTOCard tokens. CRYPTOCard tokens do not expire and, therefore, need be deployed only once. Software tokens can be reissued to new users without the need to recover or repurchase keys.
