The Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission The Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC, in French Conseil de la radiodiffusion et des tĂ©lĂ©communications canadiennes) was established in 1968 by the Parliament of Canada to replace the Board of Broadcast Governors.  today directed Telesat Canada to re-allocate transponder capacity to Star Choice on the Anik F1 satellite which is expected to be in service by February 18th, 2001.

Star Choice had asked the Commission to intervene in this matter in order to ensure that it has access to sufficient capacity to maintain a competitive direct-to-home marketplace.

Star Choice welcomes the Commission's decision noting that this additional capacity will enable it to offer Canadians a greater diversity in digital programming services.
