Salvadoran immigrant Giovanni Avelar's body was expected to be flown today to El Salvador El Salvador (ĕl sälväthōr`), officially Republic of El Salvador, republic (2005 est. pop. 6,705,000), 8,260 sq mi (21,393 sq km), Central America.  to be buried next to his father. The burial is expected to take place Thursday.

``He said when he died he wanted to be buried next to his dad,'' said friend Oliver Lopez, 17, of North Hills. ``His dad was shot by his enemies.''

Avelar was confronted by two gang members last week in the 9000 block of Langdon Avenue, an area where authorities have won an injunction against gang members congregating con·gre·gate

One of the suspects, identified as Luis Acosta, 18, of Canoga Park, was arrested July 23 on suspicion of murder in Avelar's death, police said.

 police, one of the gang members who approached Avelar punched him and when he tried to defend himself, the second man, identified as Acosta, shot him several times in the upper body with the rifle.

Friends and family said he just wanted to finish school so he could make enough money to support his mother, two brothers and a sister.

At the service Monday at Aaron Cremation cremation, disposal of a corpse by fire. It is an ancient and widespread practice, second only to burial. ``He's the kind of guy you wish all guys were,'' said friend Laura Vargas, 15, of North Hills. ``It's not fair they took a good guy like that out. He was the greatest friend you could have. Everyone loved him.''
