Current cultural and trade tensions between the United states and Japan can be avoided at local levels if you use savvy business tactics. That's just a small part of the communications and business advice Mieko Ichikawa and Donna Fujii, Japanese and Japanese-American entrepreneurs, will discuss at the Oct. 6 program hosted by the International Communicators Network of Women in Communications Inc., at 5:30 p.m. at the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco.
Based in Los Angeles, Mieko Ichikawa is a Tokyo native who introduced Andy Warhol and several major artists to Japan. She represents artists, designers to Japanese corporations who develop everything from theme parks and nightclubs to lunch pails. Donna Fujii, who is Japanese-American, is a San Francisco-based color consultant and author of "Color with Style," the first multi-ethnic color and style guide. She serves as a consultant to the upscale Takashimaya Department Stores and Japan Air Line's JALPAK, among others.
Speakers will share inside tips on how to leverage cross-cultural do's, avoid taboos and gain market entry and development tips for men and women in the panel discussion moderated by Alexander Besher, author and syndicated columnist whose work includes the "Pacific Rim Almanac."
Thanks to event host Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco and Hakusan Saki, the Miyako Hotel and Elka Definitive Seafood Restaurant.
