CROSS COUNTRY NOTEBOOK: NORDHOFF A FAVORITE AT OJAI INVITATIONAL.

The Ojai Invitational on Saturday could be a barometer of what to expect from next month's Ventura County championships on the same Lake Casitas Lake Casitas is a lake in Ventura County, California. It was formed by Casitas Dam on Coyote Creek, two miles (3 km) before it joins the Ventura River. Santa Ana Creek and North Fork Coyote Creek also flow into the lake.  3-mile course.

Host Nordhoff High is among the favorites in the boys' and girls' team competition. The Rangers boys are the defending Southern Section and State Division IV champions. Nordhoff captured the Southern Section Division IV title and went on to place third in the State meet.

The individual titles could be claimed by sophomore Jaclyn Pedersen of Royal and Mark Nevers of Oak Park. Pedersen, a Southern Section Division I finalist in track and cross country, defeated Marmonte League The Marmonte League is a high school sports league primarily made up of schools from Ventura County. The Marmonte Leauge is part of the CIF Southern Section. Nevers was sixth in the 3,200 meters in the Southern Section Division IV championships and was the lone freshman to advance to the final.

The field also includes the Quartz Hill girls, who were fourth in the State Division I championships and the Southern Section Division I finalist Ventura boys. Thousand Oaks, which won the girls' division in the season-opening Seaside Invitational last Friday at the Ventura County Fairgrounds n. pl. 1. same as fairground.  and placed third in the boys' competition, will compete in the Woodbridge Invitational in Irvine along with Marmonte League rivals Agoura and Simi Valley Simi Valley (sē`mē, sĭm`ē), city (1990 pop. 100,217), Ventura co., SW Calif. in an oil, fruit, and farm region; laid out 1887, inc. 1969. .

Car wash: The Thousand Oaks girls tee-peed coach Robert Radnoti's pickup truck late Friday night after the Lancers captured the Seaside Invitational team championship in his coaching debut, leaving a large sign which read: ``We love you coach, The Girls.''

``It was wonderful,'' Radnoti said. ``When I was taking it off, it took off the dirt at the same time. I told the kids the car never looked any better.''

College notes: The Moorpark College Moorpark College is a California-state funded community college located on a 134 acre (542,000 m²) property reclining on a hill in Moorpark, a town in Ventura County, California.  men, the two-time defending State champion, will compete in the first of three Western State Conference meets Friday at Kenneth Hahn Kenneth "Kenny" Frederick Hahn (August 19, 1920–1997) was a member of the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors for forty years from 1952 to 1992. Prior to his election, Hahn served on the Los Angeles City Council.  Park in West L.A.

Glendale, the 1995 State champion, posted three narrow victories over Moorpark to win the Western State Conference title. The Raiders, however, turned the tables on the Vaqueros to capture the Southern California and State titles.

Moorpark is coming off a victory in the Ventura Invitational at San Buenaventura Beach. Rey Coronado, Efrain Garcia and Jose Amezcua finished fifth, sixth and eighth to help the Raiders hold off El Camino 48-54.
