The Canyon boys and girls should have little difficulty advancing from the preliminaries to the Southern Section Division I finals Nov. 17 at Mt. SAC.

A national boys' title could be within reach for a Canyon team led by seniors Jameson Mora MORA, In civil law. Canyon is ranked second in the nation and first in the state and section polls.

The Cowboys, however, demonstrated they were more than a three-man team by placing five runners among the top seven in the Foothill League finals with a sweep by Llamas, Mora and Morgan and fifth- and seventh-place finishes from Troy Werner and Alex Harris, respectively.

Canyon's girls, boosted by a 1-2 finish from sophomore Brenda Stevens and junior Brenda Ste ???????vens, also appears to be peaking after winning its eighth league title in nine years.

Desert Christian's girls, ranked second in the state in Division V, are going for their third consecutive top-four state meet finish. The Knights won their 11th consecutive league title last week behind senior Jynnifer Wright, who earned her fourth league title.

Often overshadowed by the girls, the Desert Christian boys, led by Sky Johnston, Kevin Scott and Seth Avery, extended their league title winning streak Noun 1. winning streak - a streak of wins

The Lancaster boys and girls will be seeking their first section finals berth after running to Golden League title victories.

The five-time defending league champion boys have a close-knit pack with senior Ryan Rogers, Sam Torres, Grant Hager and Jace Kellogg. The girls, led by individual champion Marissa Hager, were surprise winners over Quartz Hill in the league finals.
